BRANDING & MERCH DESIGN
Warped Tour Revival
Re-branding Vans Warped Tour
Reviving the iconic Vans Warped Tour with a modern twist, my project delves into a fusion of late '90s and early 2000s digital aesthetics, paying homage to the Myspace era that once nurtured the emo and punk music scenes. Vibrant, attention-grabbing colors, striking typography, high-contrast visuals, and vintage-inspired illustrations are the cornerstones of this new style.
The Vans Warped Tour, a legendary cross-country music festival, graced stages from 1995 to 2018. My project's core mission was to breathe new life into this iconic event, reimagining it with a contemporary identity that raises the question: What if the festival were to make a comeback today? The Vans Warped Tour Revival is designed to resonate with the same passionate audience that embraced the original tour. It caters to younger enthusiasts, providing them with a platform to discover emerging artists, while also appealing to devoted older fans who have faithfully attended the tour for over 25 years.
TYPOGRAPHY
I wanted to pay homage to the original 90’s Warped style, while giving it a refreshed and futuristic vibe. Futura's letterforms convey a bold and confident touch to the branding, and echo the boldness of the original Vans Warped Tour identity. Simultaneously, Krungthep’s modern & digital appearance infuses a sense of futurism, bringing the festival into the contemporary digital age. Krungthep’s unique letterforms appeal to the festival's youthful demographic, capturing the essence of current design trends and pop culture.
Together, these typefaces strike a harmonious balance, honoring the festival's legacy while propelling it forward with a fresh and forward-thinking visual language.
COLOR PALETTE
When creating the new color palette, I switched from the dated primary colors to brighter neons for a more trendy and modern feel.
The digital typeface's dynamic letterforms and vibrant colors capture the festival's high-energy atmosphere and excitement.
PHOTOGRAPHY & MOCKUPS
I captured all the photographs showcased in the posters and CD booklet mockups personally during the original tour between 2015 to 2018, at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.
